More Creations for a Cause!

I have just finished stamping and watercoloring tiles that I am donating this weekend. I thought that I would share them here with everyone.

I have made tile sets in the past for birthdays, Christmas and wedding gifts. They are wonderful for anyone, especially that hard to buy for person! Nothing says you care more than something that is hand made by you!

If you are interested in learning how to stamp tiles, e-mail me for class dates.

Cards for a Cause!

I thought that I would share with you a selection of cards that I have prepared for this weekend. As cancer has more than likely touched all of us in some way, it has definitely effected me. My mom has Breast Cancer.

This weekend I will be at the Hillside Mall with my the Jazzercise Program that I attend a few days every week. We are grouping our efforts together for the cure to end Breast Cancer with "Jazz it up for the Cure". There will be a silent auction and I have donated a collection of my stamped cards. There will also be a few of my stamped coasters in the collection (they are not pictured here).

Not only am I going to be at the Hillside Mall to support the efforts of all of my fellow 'Jazzercisers', I will also be there with my mom in mind! Come out to the Hillside Mall center court Saturday Oct 28th between 12:30 -4:30. You will be able to check out my cards and coasters, bid on items in the silent auction if you wish and more than likely see me jazzercising: one of the other activities I love to do!

I hope to see many of you there!

Pumpkin and Cactus...

Here are two card samples, both featuring the Carved & Candlelit stamp set, but with very different looks!

The idea of using the "pumpkin" stamps to create a cactus came from another Stampin' Up! demonstrator and the creative twist is very amazing! So, when you are done creating your Halloween cards, you can still use your set for other cards.

You might notice some shading on the cactus... this was achieved by inking the stamp in Always Artichoke, stamping off once and then rolling just one side of the stamp back into the Always Artichoke ink to darken the one side.

The Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Marker was used to draw on all the "needles" on the cactus. The marker was also used to colour just the middle 3 sections of the larger stamp to make the little cactus that has the flower on it. The flower is from the Roses in Winter set.

The cactus card also involves masking... With masking, you stamp the closest image first. In this case, the small cactus on the right was stamped first. The second time the image was stamped on a Post It Note and was cut out just slightly inside the image. Then it was placed over the stamped image on the card stock so that the next image could be stamped without overlapping.

Happy stampin'!

Getting A Better Stamped Image!

Have you ever noticed that when you stamp with a solid stamp, it's hard to get a clear image?

Here are some tips to help.

Use a Sanding Block or fine sandpaper to gently sand the surface of your stamp. This will help the ink stick to the stamp. I find that going in small circles works well. Sand over the surface of the stamp 5 or 6 times. Then clean your stamp and try using it. If it's still not working well, try sanding it a little more. When inking your stamp, try twisting it onto the stamp pad and then tapping - twist and tap. Twisting helps pick up ink and tapping makes sure the ink is well distributed and you don't have the streaks from twisting.

This photo shows a stamp from the Wishing You the Best stamp set that was inked and stamped brand new then sanded and stamped again. Although it doesn't show quite as much in the photo, the second image is much crisper and clearer.

Happy stampin'!
